Even numbers keep Weston Berkeley grounded. They're steady, predictable, safe. On the surface he's popular, composed, impossible to shake. But when the pattern fractures, the edges of his world blur, and Weston begins to doubt the mind everyone assumes is unbreakable.

A story about two teens carrying more than anyone realizes. Lily, who's sure she's dangerous to love, and Cohen, who's trying to rebuild after everything he's lost. Their friendship becomes a lifeline, showing them that healing is possible, even when you don't believe you deserve it.

'...a very realistic depiction of grief and the hardships so many teens go through. It actually feels real. Some YA/teen novels I read by adults feel manufactured and a little untrue, but authenticity shines through here.'

About Me

The Voice Behind the Stories

For over twenty years, my world has been defined by the voices of young people. As a private vocal coach, I’ve spent two decades sitting across from high school students, witnessing not just their musical growth, but the stories they carry. I’ve heard their insecurities, felt their pains, and celebrated their triumphs.

Teaching taught me that while the scenery changes, the heart of a teenager remains the same. Whether they are navigating life in the suburbs of Chicago or the wide-open spaces of North Texas, the struggles they face—and the resilience they show—are universal.

Why I Write

I decided to combine my deep affection for this age group with my lifelong passion for storytelling. I don’t just want to write about the shadows or the traumas that teens face; I want to write about the light that follows. My stories are dedicated to the "slow, beautiful work of healing"—the messy, complicated, and ultimately triumphant process of becoming whole again.

I believe our scars don’t just tell a story of what we’ve endured—they make us more beautiful and stronger for having been broken.

A Journey Home

Though I have called Nevada, Illinois, and Georgia home, Texas has always been my heart. My debut novel, This Is How I Live Now, was born during my time in Georgia and is set among its lush landscapes. As my characters move between the states I’ve lived in, they carry the accents and atmospheres of those places with them—from the busy streets of a Chicago suburb to the familiar heat of a Texas afternoon.

Today, I am back home in Texas, where I live with my husband and son. When I’m not writing or coaching, you can find me curating the perfect character playlist or designing the next layer of a book cover.
